Frequently Asked Questions

Trip Requirements

• You must be a member in good standing of the Brooklyn Tabernacle (or sister churches).
• You must be able to attend all mandatory Team Meetings and Trip Training Meetings.
• 3 Mission Trip Training Sessions are scheduled for Mondays Nov 3, 10 and 17.
• If you have gone on a Mission Trip in 2008, then you are exempted from the Nov 3 Training.
• Active participation in a ministry is a major consideration.
• Pastor and Ministry leader references are also important considerations.
• Fluent language or medical skills are a plus, but not a requirement.
• Medical Personnel are required to have a valid and up to date license.
• You must have a valid US Passport or a valid Country of Origin Passport.
• Trip deposits of $100 are due immediately upon acceptance. Checks should be made to ‘Brooklyn Tabernacle’ and sent to Missions Dept at the church. Full payments must be paid 2 weeks before the trip.

Important Trip Notes

• Please understand that participation in a mission trip carries risks inherent both to such activities and to the location of the event. The Brooklyn Tabernacle cannot be held liable for loss, injury or damage as a result of your participation. The release in the trip application must be signed.
• Please be advised that the trip dates are subject to change.
• The total costs are only estimated and will fluctuate.
• You are responsible for the total cost of the trip.
• The non-airfare costs must be paid in full one week before the departure date.
• If you have been selected for a team and a plane ticket has been purchased, you are fully responsible for that ticket. If church leadership asks that you step down from a team for some reason, you agree to be fully responsible for the ticket.
• You can select multiple trips, but put them in order of preference.

Interview Notes

• You must have 2 interviews. If you have been on a Mission trip in 2008, you do not have to be interviewed. However, a trip application is still required.
• Selections will be based on the interviews, the application and references.
• Given the sensitive nature of some of the trips, we may have to ask you more personal questions regarding your background: e.g. Have you ever been sexually abused? Etc.
• Teams will be finalized starting from the earlier trips to the later ones.
• We will notify everyone by email, mail or phone whether you are on the team. (Make sure the address on the application is legible).
• Please don’t be offended if you aren’t selected!
