Frequently Asked Questions


Document Requirements

  • Completed Trip application.  You can select multiple trips, but put them in order of preference and give a reason for each trip.
  • Character referral to be given to a pastor or ministry leader and they must send it directly to Pastor Park
  • Color copy of passport or actual passport (we will make a copy and it will be returned).  Passport must be valid within 6 months of travel and should have sufficient pages left.
  • For medical people: valid medical license, CV/Resume and applicable diploma copies


Trip Requirements

  • You must be a member in good standing of the Brooklyn Tabernacle (or sister churches).
  • You must be able to attend all mandatory Team Meetings and Trip Training Meetings.
  • 4 Mission Trip Training Sessions are scheduled for each trip.
  • Active participation in a ministry is a major consideration.
  • Pastor or Ministry leader references must be submitted.
  • Fluent language or medical skills are a plus, but not a requirement.
  • Medical Personnel are required to have a valid and up to date license.
  • Trip deposits of $100 are due immediately upon acceptance.  Checks should be made to ‘Brooklyn Tabernacle’ and sent to Missions Dept at the church.  Full payments must be paid before the first team meeting (4 weeks before the travel dates).  If trip deposits are not received in time, you will be put on a standby/waiting list.


Important Trip Notes

  • Please understand that participation in a mission trip carries risks inherent both to such activities and to the location of the event.  The Brooklyn Tabernacle cannot be held liable for loss, injury or damage as a result of your participation.  The release in the trip application must be signed.
  • Please be advised that the trip dates are subject to change. 
  • The total costs are only estimated and will fluctuate.
  • You are responsible for the total personal cost of the trip.  The ticket price cost is due at the time of ticket purchase.  Please plan and save accordingly.
  • If you have been selected for a team and a plane ticket has been purchased, you are fully responsible for that ticket.  If you cannot make the trip or church leadership asks that you step down from a team for some reason, you agree to be fully responsible for the ticket.

Interview Notes

  • You will have 2 separate interviews except for the following exceptions: 
    1. If you have been on a trip in the previous calendar year, you do not have to be interviewed or have a character referral form.  However, a trip application is still required.
    2. If your last trip was more than 2 calendar years prior, you are an official member of the Missions Ministry, or are in leadership at the church in some capacity (deacon, etc.) you will only need 1 interview, but you will need to have a character referral.
  • Selections will be based on the interviews, application and references.
  • Given the sensitive nature of some of the trips, we may have to ask you more personal questions regarding your background: e.g. Have you ever been sexually abused? Etc.
  • Teams will be finalized starting from the earlier trips to the later ones.
  • We will notify everyone by email, mail or phone whether you are on the team. (Make sure the email and mailing addresses as well as the phone #s on the application are legible).
  • Please don’t be offended or discouraged if you aren’t selected!

Prayer Request Form

Please give us a brief description of your prayer request. Once received, our Prayer Band will petition the Lord on your behalf for the next 30 days. (Please bear in mind that not all prayer requests will be displayed on the website prayer scroll below.)

Please be sure to send us your praise report when the Lord answers your request.
