Haiti (Jacmel)
Bonite Affriany was saved in 1997 and became an active member of The Brooklyn Tabernacle. Originally from Haiti, she returned to her hometown of Jacmel, where she purchased property in order to build Christ's Love Center, for poverty-stricken children. She always felt a burden to feed and care for poor children. While breaking ground for construction, she began witnessing to all of her neighbors and within a year, over 400 people accepted Christ including a Voodoo priest and eight Mormons. Since then, more than 125 people have been baptized and a church called Christ's Love Tabernacle has been formed on the property.
Due to the rampant poverty in Jacmel, most families barely have one meal per day. Bonite began a feeding program for the children in her area that provides a nutritious meal for over 120 children from Monday through Friday. She also noticed that other family members were without food for many days and started a micro-loan program. This program lends adults in the ministry money to purchase groceries and to resell them, enabling them to provide for themselves.
She also conducts classes to teach these children God's Word through the Bible and songs. As people were getting saved and were given a Bible, Bonite realized that many adults were illiterate. She subsequently started an Adult Education program to teach mathematics and reading/writing in Creole and French. The program currently has 11 qualified teachers and 3 classes with 42 adult students.
Sister Bonite is working tirelessly to help meet the spiritual and physical needs of the people of Jacmel.
