MVMNT Retreat - On Purpose

This year, our theme is ON PURPOSE: Finding God’s direction by design, not default. It is our hope that you would all walk away with a better perspective of the purpose God has designed for you. Being ON PURPOSE is about keeping a healthy perspective, so that you can see how God is molding your situation together. God, the potter, is sculpting our situation together so that, ultimately, we can serve Him.

See you at the retreat,

Jovan Ramos has a passion to reach and raise up a generation to live for Jesus Christ. He is on staff at The Brooklyn Tabernacle, where he is the Director for MVMNT, the young adult ministry. Over the last few years, MVMNT has become the largest young adult gathering in NYC on Friday nights. In downtown Brooklyn, people are gathering to hear relevant teaching, build authentic friendships and encounter Jesus through worship and prayer.

Jovan is married to his lovely wife Amy, and they have two young children, Charlotte and Benjamin with one on the way. Connect with him online via twitter (@Jovan_Ramos) and Instagram (@Jovan_Ramos).

We are so excited to introduce our Breakout Sessions that are bigger and better than before! This year, we are offering a range of topics that are relevant to the average young adult. Main Session Breakouts

Men of Integrity (Men)
How can you be a man of integrity today, regardless of what your upbringing was like?  In this session, we will explore what our heavenly Father has to say about what it is to be a man of integrity.

Living Proverbs 31 In 2017 (Women)
The idea of being a virtuous woman sounds great, but what does that look like in 2017? This session will dive into what it looks like to live out Proverbs 31 in today’s times, with an open discussion on the challenges involved in living out God's Word in today’s world.

Still Happily Married (Married Couples)
A sign of a marriage on the brink of failing is when the only good times you speak of are from a long time ago. The reality is that marriage is the best personal development program you could ever subscribe to, but how does a husband and wife grow together and not apart? Learn practical strategies in this session that will restore the joy in your marriage.

Hot Topics (Optional Breakouts)

Burnout vs. Burning (Leadership)
Have you ever felt as a leader that you were running on fumes? This is not the intention of God, but it is something leaders know all too well. In this session, you will learn how to manage yourself to keep your fire burning instead of burning out.

Working Your Passions (Entrepreneurship)
Have you ever seen someone who just seems like a natural at what they do? What would it be like if you could take what you are passionate about and use it to add value to your life and the lives of others? This session will show you how to best identify what your passions are and how to work them to add to the lives of others.

The 21st Century Christian (Apologetics)
Today we are living in times where what was yesterday is no longer today, and tomorrow will look a lot different than today. With the changing times, it is becoming more challenging to be a Christian and reach others to become Christians too. In this session, you will learn how to be more of what God wants you to be so you can do more of what God’s call you to do.

To Do or Not to Do (Decision Making)
There are important moments in one’s life that can be narrowed down to a choice/decision. In this session, we will discuss the importance of having discernment to face life’s toughest questions so you can experience God’s best in your life.
