FAQS: GOD, JESUS, AND HOPE
You matter to God because you are His creation. The Bible says in Genesis 1 that people were created in His image. That means that you are different from the rest of creation—because you were made with purpose. That purpose is relationship with your Creator. Anything created with purpose has value to the One who made it. That’s why you matter to God.
Purpose starts with this question: do you truly know the One who created you?
Believing in God is not the same as knowing Him. You can believe in God but still be living life on your own terms—and the Bible calls that sin. And sin separates us from God. If you are separated from Him, you won’t clearly know His purpose for you. A lot of people are trying to figure out their purpose without first knowing the One who gives it.
If you want to know and live in God’s purpose for your life, you have to know God first.
The problem of sin has to be dealt with before you can know God. God created you for relationship with Him. In relationships with people, both sides have a say in how you interact with each other. But in a relationship with God, He is the Creator, and we are not—so He defines the terms of the relationship. God is loving, but He is also holy, and sin breaks our relationship with Him. So if you want to truly know Him, it starts by addressing the problem of sin.
If you’ve ever felt distant from God, this might help explain why. That distance isn’t accidental; it comes from something real that needs to be dealt with.
Sin is more than bad behavior; it’s our root problem. At its core, sin is choosing to live independently from God. It’s stepping away from what you were created for and deciding to live life your own way. That’s why it affects everything, not just a few actions here and there.
Sin leads to separation from God. The Bible describes this as spiritual death—a broken relationship with God now and eternal separation from Him after this life.
That’s more serious than most people realize.
Sin isn’t something you can fix on your own.
The Bible teaches that sin is part of every person’s nature; it cannot be removed through effort or good works. No matter how hard you try, you will fall short at some point. If you’ve ever tried to be better and found yourself right back in the same place, you’re not alone. The problem goes deeper than behavior—it reaches into the core of who you are. That’s why self-effort isn’t enough. The solution must come from outside you.
And that solution isn’t a religious system or a form of self-help. It’s a person: Jesus.
Jesus is the Son of God—eternal and fully God. He didn’t begin when He was born on this earth. He has always existed. He chose a moment in history to come down from heaven to earth, and He lived among us. He experienced the same struggles and temptations we do but never sinned.
Because He didn’t fail as we do, Jesus is the only One able to deal with the problem of sin on our behalf and save us from the judgment that awaits us. He willingly gave up His life, taking the punishment for sin that we deserve. He rose again after His death, showing that He was God in the flesh and that death did not have the final say.
Jesus is the restorer of relationship—this is why everything comes back to Him.
Jesus came to rescue you from the separation caused by sin and restore what was lost in this life and the next. This is the gift of salvation.
None of us deserves this amazing gift. But God gives it by grace.
Grace is a gift that you don’t earn and cannot repay. But God offers you this gift of salvation freely because of His love for you. Through Jesus, the penalty for sin was already paid. Grace means that your standing with God is not based on how well you perform in life but on what Jesus has already done.
To receive Jesus’ gift of salvation, you need to admit your sins and repent of them. Repentance is not just feeling bad; it’s a change of direction and a change in the way you think. It’s turning away from living life your own way and surrendering to God.
This is not self-improvement; it’s letting go of control of your life, your will. It’s a shift in who’s in charge of your life.
Believing is more than agreeing; it’s trusting. Jesus is asking you to trust Him with your life—including your thoughts, your direction, your future, and your identity. Trusting in Him means that you stop holding everything together yourself and place it all in His hands. And His hands are hands that you can trust.
Jesus is not an idea or a myth. He is a real, historical person whose life, death, and resurrection have been examined for generations. Millions have trusted Him and found Him faithful, and the evidence of who He is continues to stand.
Jesus holds your life in His hands not to harm you but to lead you and walk with you.
God has already done the hard part through Jesus. Your response is simply to trust Him.
Right now, you can:
-
Acknowledge your sin
-
Turn to God
-
Put your trust in Jesus
You don’t need to figure everything out to take this step. You just need a willing heart.
This is the beginning of a real relationship with Jesus. This is not religion or pressure to join a church; instead, it’s a new life walking with the One who created you for a purpose.
Maybe you’ve done everything described above but feel like you’ve drifted too far from God to return. But the answer is still yes, you matter to God, no matter what. Even if you feel distant from God, it doesn’t mean that you don’t matter to Him. Feelings change, but God’s truth does not. In some seasons people feel forgotten or overlooked, but that doesn’t reflect God’s heart. No matter how far you’ve gone, you still matter to Him.
You are not too far gone. You are not beyond His saving. Return to Jesus today, and your relationship with Him can be restored.
