Our mission bold black text

Sanctus NYC is the young adult community of the Brooklyn Tabernacle. Latin for “holiness,” the word sanctus expresses the mission and desire of our community. We are seeking to become like Jesus, made holy and filled with all of the life and power He has promised us. We want to know God intimately and live out His perfect will for our lives. Our desire is to see the gospel be made real in our lives and that God would use us to spread the good news of Jesus throughout NYC!

Luke was born in Queens and raised between Long Island and Brooklyn. In his high school years, he began to feel a call to ministry and a deep burden to see people come to know Jesus. After attending college in Virginia, he moved to Los Angeles where he served at a Christian recovery program and led a street evangelism ministry. Despite thinking he would stay in California forever, he felt that God was calling him back to New York City. He got back right before the pandemic and has been serving at Sanctus ever since. Luke recently married Emily, the love of his life, and together they are joyfully serving the Lord and the body of Christ. Luke passionately desires to see young adults grow into the fullness of their salvation and to see Jesus glorified in NYC!

Linnette Pilar white bolded text

Born and raised in New York City, Linnette has a Bachelor of Music degree from New York University (NYU) and earned a Master of Professional Studies in Urban Ministry from Alliance Theological Seminary/Nyack College. It was while Linnette was a freshman at NYU that she joined their All-University Gospel Choir and became a born-again Christian. Through her choir mates, Linnette learned about The Brooklyn Tabernacle and began to attend and serve as a leader in the young adult ministry (now Sanctus) over the next 13 years. Linnette also travels and ministers with The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir and BT Singers, proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ through song. In her new leadership role at Sanctus, Linnette counts it a privilege to be able to serve the young adults of her beloved city. Her prayer for them is based on Galatians 5:1 “Freedom is what we have—Christ has set us free! Stand, then, as free people, and do not allow yourselves to become slaves again.”
