The question of when we will be gathering together again has been the subject of much prayer and discussion by our church’s leadership. We are asking God for wisdom as we attempt to follow the guidelines of New York State and New York City regarding the timing for reopening our church campus. At the same time, we are making plans and putting protocols in place to ensure your safety and well-being when we are able to meet again. Stay tuned for updates as more information becomes available.

In the meantime, we hope that you will continue to join us for Tuesday Prayer Onlinebeginning at 7pm; Sunday Worship Online, beginning at 9am; and weekday Devotions Onlinebeginning at 10am. We also invite you to check the Churchwide Announcements on our home page to learn about additional online events for each member of your family.

Who Are We?

The Baptism Ministry is committed to serving those who have made a decision to be baptized, which is the first act of faith and obedience for every believer.

Eligibility to Volunteer

In order to serve in this ministry, you must be a member of The Brooklyn Tabernacle and be able to stand and do some light physical work.

Activities & Functions

  • Workers help to register candidates for baptism and provide them with all pertinent information leading up to the day of baptism.
  • Baptism workers provide assistance to the pastors and baptism candidates on the day of the baptism service.
  • Workers maintain a safe and expedient procession of candidates into the baptistry.

Frequency of Service

Water Baptism workers serve as part of one large team.  Each volunteer serves four times a year, in the days leading up to the four annual baptism services and also during the baptism services.

Length of Commitment

There are approximately four baptism cycles per year. The baptism service is normally held on Thursday evenings from 6pm–9pm. (All workers are required to attend.)

Special Requirements

Water Baptism volunteers must be able to perform light physical activities. In addition, all volunteers are asked to make a one-year commitment to the ministry. You may choose to stay longer as the Lord leads.
