OUR MISSION
The goal of the Brooklyn Tabernacle missions ministry is to share the love of Jesus throughout the world, both in word and in action. We want to see men, women, youth, and children of all nations become disciples of Christ. We organize short-term teams and work in partnership with local ministries to provide ministry services that the local partners can use to help in their existing community outreaches. Our approach is holistic in that we minister to both the body and the spirit.
OUR MISSIONARIES
MERCY PROJECTS
Mercy projects are long-term commitments to evangelism, discipleship, humanitarian aid, and community development in target areas where the need is great. The Brooklyn Tabernacle currently supports a variety of mercy projects, as listed below. If you have a heart for any of these projects or countries, we welcome your prayer and financial support. One hundred percent of the proceeds will be used toward these projects.
Our various mission locations serve the communities in which they are located through the most basic humanitarian need: food programs. These locations serve more than 3,500 meals on a weekly basis to poor children and families living in sometimes desperate situations.
Most of our missionaries did not start out intending to create food programs. Instead, as they ministered the bread of life to people, they were struck by people’s immediate need for physical bread as well. As their ministries have grown, so has the need to help children and families in some of the most desperate situations.
Health care in the Third World is a major challenge, where the vast majority of people have no access to medical care because it’s either out of reach or too expensive. Since 2003, our volunteer medical-dental mission teams have ministered in many locations worldwide, including Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Peru, in various African and Asian countries, and in the Middle East. Our goal is to share the love of Jesus in the most tangible and practical ways possible. In our free clinics, we welcome people from every religious, ethnic, and racial background.
Our missionaries are also involved in longer-term medical ministry projects, such as permanent primary medical clinics in Malawi and Lebanon. Medical ministry allows ministries to minister to the sick in practical ways.
Most of the children that our ministries work with are at great risk spiritually, physically, and emotionally. Whether ministering to orphans left homeless by the AIDS epidemic in Malawi or sheltering and caring for abused and at-risk children in Guyana, our missionaries provide godly instruction and material care.
EDUCATION SPONSORSHIP
The lack of education for children and youth is a serious long-term issue for any community and its families. Lack of education can have severe consequences, which can lead youth to serious social problems such as gangs, crime, or trafficking.
The majority of Third World children do not attend school. For example, in Haiti, 50 percent of children do not attend school, most because they cannot afford it. Our missionary community outreach includes sponsoring children and youth for their education, whether for primary or secondary school or for tutoring services.
HAITI LIFE CENTER:
The WCF (World Compassion Fellowship) Haiti Life Center is a holistic job skills training center launched in partnership with Caribbean Grace Tabernacle (CGT), a Brooklyn Tabernacle ministry founded by Haitian national Elsie Lherisson. It provides training in such areas as English as a second language (ESL), computer knowledge, and character and leadership.
LEBANON MEDICAL LIFE CENTER:
The WCF (World Compassion Fellowship) Medical Life Center in Lebanon is a community medical center that provides subsidized primary medical care to war refugees and marginalized individuals. It works in partnership with local ministries that share the same heart and mission.
