Division Defeats Multiplication

Jesus said, “If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand.”Mark 3:25

“The early church was so blessed by God that the gospel began to spread everywhere and the number of believers in Christ multiplied rapidly. But the Bible warns that division defeats multiplication. In fact, Jesus said that a house divided against itself cannot stand, because division kills growth and blessing. It is for this reason that the apostle Paul warned: ‘Watch out for those who cause divisions’ (Romans 16:17). ‘Warn a divisive person once and then warn them a second time. After that, have nothing to do with them’ (Titus 3:10). Sadly, there are people who destroy churches not by stealing and doing drugs, but by gossiping and pitting people against one another. The Psalmist David wrote, ‘How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity’ (Psalm 133:1). Unity makes for strength in a marriage, in a family, in a company, on a sports team. How much more does God want his church to be together as one heart! Scripture tells us there’s only one body—one church. Let’s ask God to unite our churches and stop the division that ruins the peace God wants us to enjoy.” – Pastor Cymbala
